Sixteen years passed. Anne remembered them well. She was sure she had lived her life to the fullest. She had spent the first part of her life at the lower side of the social scale, but once high school hit, she was riding high. Every guy wanted to date her. Every girl wanted to be her. She was Miss Popularity.
However, Anne wasn't as perfect as everyone thought her to be. She had a troubled life. No, her parents didn't beat her, and she wasn't an alcoholic. Instead, she had been plagued by weird daydreams and visions. Anne was sure the dreams were to be her future or something, for they had felt so real. Too bad for her, she used to be so troubled by the visions that her parents sent her to a psychiatrist. She still went to him once a week, though no one from school knew, thank God.
One day, Anne was walking along the sidewalk in Los Angeles. She was alone - which was rare for her. However, she felt she needed an escape. As the sun set, the lights on the street flickered on one by one. Los Angeles' night life was beginning to awaken.
As Anne walked down the sidewalk, she noticed a dark figure watching her from the shadows. It was a man, maybe in his mid-twenties. He wore a dark leather jacket over his clothes. His face was Angelic and mysterious. Anne was attracted to him instantly, and she was overcome with the feeling she had met this guy. Then it hit her, she HAD seen this guy before. He had haunted her dreams many a time.
As if on cue, the man strolled over to her.
Anne eyes him suspiciously. Was he homeless? Sure, the mystery was sexy, and the dark attracted her, but maybe he was dangerous. "Who are you?" she asked.
"Angel," he replied simply. "I've been waiting for you."
